Get Involved

For many, another school year has come to a close.  Parents and caregivers will soon be looking for ways to entertain their children during the summer months.  When talking with friends last year about their plans for the summer, they expressed interest in finding a list of family-friendly volunteer opportunities in our area.  I compiled a list and published it on my blog Kapers, Cookies, and Campfires.  Knowing my target audience for this website includes middle grade readers and their families, I decided to share the information here as well.

During my research last spring, I came across a comprehensive list of volunteer opportunities in the Cincinnati area on the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County website.  The information provided on this library website proved to be helpful as I searched for organizations that welcome younger volunteers.  Through a quick Google search, I also discovered VolunteerMatch.org.  This website allows users to “uncover new volunteer opportunities that matter to you, wherever you are.”  Even if you don’t live in the Greater Cincinnati area, there may be similar organizations near you that would welcome your help.

This link directs you to my previously published Kapers, Cookies, and Campfires blog post.  The names and contact information for organizations that encourage involvement of children and adult chaperones are provided.

Grow together as you serve together. Get inspired. Get involved.
